Facebook is said to be nearing a settlement with the ConnectU.com crowd over allegations that Facebook’s concept was stolen from Harvard Students that Mark Zuckerberg the CEO once flatted with.
No one is commenting on the situation, but it is believed that a payout will be near to get the case out of the media.

Google’s acquisition of DoubleClick has resulted in the need to sell the Search Engine Marketing side of DoubleClick known as Performics.
Performics offers SEO and SEM services - which would be a great conflict of interests for Google as the SEO/SEM industry focus on increasing dominance in search engines, specifically Google.
Historically Google has gone on a shopping spree when they make their first acquisition for the year. People are saying they may be in the talks of acquiring Skype off eBay for SE integration. It is also said that Google want to buy Expedia.
Google could in turn offer travel services via search results!
According to a recent US study by CoreBrand, Microsoft’s brand power has significantly declined over the past 4 years. An indication that the IT giant is losing credibility and mindshare with some of America’s largest business users.
CoreBrand polled an estimated 12,000 US business decision makers on core brands in their associated fields. Microsoft of which dropped from 12th in the annual list in 2004 to that of position 59 in 2007.
Google however has dramatically increased.
Due to the paradigm shift to the internet, most people barely understand what exactly Microsoft do in the online space.
It seems like a small joke has gone wrong for the Google / DoubleClick crowd! A message was posted supposedly on Facebook from a Google employee stating the following;
“Hi DoubleClick. Please stop gorging yourselves on all our food,” reads the ad message, accompanied by a cartoon image of a slovenly piggy. It ends, “Maybe we won’t fire you. Thanks.”
No doubt a joke - but still in bad taste in my opinion.
It will be very interesting to see what Google will do with the employees from DoubleClick - will they be laid off?
Google plans to announce a new service that will allow web publishers to manage their online inventory and serve up ads every time a consumer pulls up a website.
This new release is set to showcase what Google will be doing with its recent acquisition of Double Click for $3.1 Billion.
The new Ad Manager serivce, will provide ad serving for free, where companies such as DoubleClick have previously charged.

Next week, Sensis will announce a series of initiatives it claims will vastly improve the search performance of its White Pages directory, to re-allign itself as a professional business search for consumers.
Dannielle Horan, spokeswoman for Sensis, has acknowledge the user issues related to the site and admits it will soon be overhauled.
“The majority of search issues on White Pages are concerned with business search and these have been caused by the technical platform the site runs on,” Horan says.
European antitrust regulators have fined Microsoft $1.3 Billion for not complying with a 2004 judgement regarding Microsoft abusing its market dominance.
The fine is the largest in history ever dealt by the EU commission, and makes the total value of fines imposed on Microsoft total $2.5 Billion dollars in todays current values.
This news got me thinking, are Microsoft still considered Evil? Why did they get accused of evil over the years? Is it because they have incredibley large scale software applications that have benefited society? Its all a bit of a blur these days.
Microsoft are preparing to engage in a proxy fight against Yahoo! as it trys to gain control of the failing internet company.
The aggressive tactic is part of the hard-nosed takeover campaign that Microsoft began two weeks ago. Unless Yahoo quickly reverses course and enters into merger talks, Microsoft will seek to nominate a slate of directors to Yahoo’s board by March 13, the deadline for nominations.
