There is a flying baby on the window of St Leonard’s Westpac bank!
Westpac values supporting local businesses and E-Web Marketing is very grateful to Westpac for allowing us to show our company mascot to passerby’s and customers. E-Web Marketing is excited about this opportunity for both E-Web and Westpac’s customers to grow.
After the excitement and energy of the World Cup Soccer Tournament had died down, E-Web Marketing decided to revive the spirit during lunchtime by holding a FIFA World Cup tournament of its own. Entries were taken and over the course of two weeks, a knock out competition was held to find out who the best FIFA Soccer player was. Players from every department faced off at lunch times and the atmosphere in the recreation room was electric. We had everything we needed to recreate the World Cup in our office, minus the vuvuzelas (but that didn’t stop us making a racket without them!).
Early days
Round 1 played out without too many upsets. The seasoned players were known and they strategically picked off the weaker, inexperienced players one by one. The quarter finals were where things started to heat up and rivalries were formed. The favourites, Aris and Buckley, began sledging each other early on and this continued up to the very end. The games were tight and many ended in penalty shoot-outs, creating much tension and spilt lunches on the rec room floor. Woofie, our office mascot, enjoyed the festivities as much as we did as he graciously picked up the remnants of the excited spectators’ lunches.
Finals approach
After a very cordial playoff for third place between Thakorlal and Forz (Thakorlal getting through with a nail biting win), the office gathered for the anticipated final between Aris “The Hitman” Abramian and Daniel “Girlyman” Buckley. The Hitman came out swinging however it was the steady and patient press by Girlyman that triumphed. Aris certainly wins a mention for his skillful sledging of his opponents however all credit must go to Daniel “Girlyman” Buckley - who prevailed to win the title of E-Web’s FIFA Soccer Champion!

It has been announced last week that Google has purchased Metaweb in an aim to further improve search, with efforts for rich snippets and search answer such as fact-finding search query answers.
An example provided is if you search [Barack Obama birthday] in the search box. The answer of his birth date is presented at the top of the search results.
Ideally Google would like to see the longer tail search query questions to be generating the relevant answer and information in the above manner.
Metaweb was originally founded in 2005 with the aim for websites to have “richer and more engaging” content and website interaction. Metaweb have an extremely large database with information on over 11 million topics/things such as celebrities, companies, movies, holiday destination providing site owners with third party content access, with theinformation being pulled from a wide variety of content sources.
What is so different to this database of information, is the way it is collaborates and ties together the information.
The idea and utilisation of Metaweb on your website could be extremely beneficial and make the search and collection of available data to present on your site easier and more interactive.

It’s been a long time in planning and preparation but the day had finally arrived, the day that E-Web moved to a brand new, bigger and brighter office. The new office space provides us with more meeting rooms, a larger office space for new staff, and a large recreation room for everyone to relax and unwind in after a hard day’s work. The move was a literally across the street and we are still located in St Leonards, close by the train station.
The move had been planned for many months and much time and effort has been put in by many parties. Most noteworthy would have to be our standout Chief Operating Officer, Joshua Hay who managed the entire process masterfully from the largest, right down to the smallest detail. It was a proud moment in E-Web’s history for CEO Gary Ng who has also been a main driver of this project as well.
On Saturday the 1st of May it was all hands on deck as the E-Web team turned from a productive online marketing force to a formidable moving crew. All staff members formed interdepartmental teams which handled specific aspects of the move from shifting the larger items to the IT team who handled the technological side of the move. Also on hand the ‘finer details’ team who managed all the smaller items from the kitchen to our library. It was an impressive show of teamwork and a commendable effort from all who participated.
Woofie, our mascot and much loved office dog, was even around to help out. However, after some time he got bored of the whole thing and decided to take the open door opportunity to explore St Leonards a little. He had managed to find a friend and have a little play before being brought back to help with the move by keeping a close watch on the teams to make sure work continued smoothly.
At this stage, all the finer points of the move are being finalised and the team prepares themselves to settle and into their new environment. It is an exciting time for the company and for all our clients as this is a sign of great things to come as everybody prepares to take this company to the next level.
The entire E-Web team is to be commended for their hard work, team work and cooperation that has enabled the move to be as smooth, efficient and successful as possible.
Stay tuned next week for another update and more photos of our new office.
E-Web CEO Gary Ng and Head of Sales Jeff Yang were invited to attend The Internet Show, held 13th-14th of April in Melbourne.
This is the first time the globally popular expo, dedicated to optimising online business, has been held in Melbourne. Prior locations have included Singapore, New York, Abu Dhabi, Johannesburg, Chicago and Sydney.
The focus of the expo was firmly on educating all businesses, regardless of size, on the best and most cost-effective techniques for growing their online presence. 40 informational seminars were held over the two day event, on topics such as social media marketing, digital advertising, site structuring, e-commerce systems, content management, and web hosting.
The event was hosted by Australian success story Melbourne IT, and sponsored by Google, which delivered fantastic presentations on the benefits of using AdWords to generate online business and branding in Australia and worldwide.
Gary and Jeff had a great time taking in all the latest industry developments, and came back excited and eager to apply what they learned to E-Web’s ongoing mission to be the leader in providing businesses in Australia with the best strategies for online success.
Apart from further developing his network with leading industry professionals, Gary made his mark on the event by destroying the competition in Saturday’s Nintendo Wii balloon darts contest.
Many attendees tried their hand at the darts game – including Jeff, who came second – but it was E-Web’s own CEO who scored the maximum number of points and took the vaulted $20 prize. Proving that he is generous as well as accurate, Gary donated his hard-won prize money to buy runner-up Jeff breakfast the following day!
On the 14th of April, Gary and Jeff headed down to Melbourne for a one day trip to attend the Internet Show, a series of seminars and a show case, educating businesses of all sizes to make the most of internet and the profits it can bring.
The Internet show enabled Gary and Jeff to interact and network with other businesses whilst at the same time they learnt valuable lessons about planning and improving online strategies to benefit the E-Web Marketing business. Valuable tips and advice was given about digital advertising and marketing, improvement of websites and learning about how one could make the most with one of the fastest growing trends at this point in time-Social Media.
As if that was not enough awesomeness for a day, Gary and Jeff rubbed shoulders with ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ host, Eddy McGuire whom was coincidentally getting take away at Romeo’s restaurant.
The two thought that their day had maximised its potential for excitement, however they thought too soon as they ran into the 2009 Apprentice Winner-Andrew Morello at Melbourne Airport. The 23 year-old Auctioneer whom believes that ‘He can sell sand to the Egyptians, oil to the Arabs and ice to the Eskimos.’ joined Gary and Jeff for a photo, before they departed their separate ways.

All in all, a day with learning, networking and star-studded excitement was a day well worth a trip to Melbourne.
