We’re a fun-loving bunch here at E-Web, and whenever there is an opportunity to have fun while raising money for a good cause, we are all over it. You could almost say we put the fun into fund raising!
You may have noticed throughout the month of November, men were spouting strange growths on their upper lips. “Movember” signals the rebirth of the classic moustache- although not currently a fashion trend, in Movember it signals support for research into depression and prostate cancer.
Thanks to the fantastic support of our fellow staff members, clients and supporters, E-Web managed to raise $1256 for the most worthy charities! On top of that, the number of questions from friends/family members of “what is that on your face?” really did raise the profile of the charity, and we feel that you can’t put a dollar value on promotions like that!
The guys around the office are pretty proud of our work in growing some excellent “flavour savers”, so we have decided to put together some photos to display our work in all our glory. Faces have been removed to protect the innocent. When looking at these photos, the most important thing to remember is that our SEO skills are much better than our moustache growing skills!

E-Web Marketing sponsored this year’s Search Engine Room at Darling Harbour’s Dockside venue in Sydney, giving industry related professionals the opportunity to meet Australia’s leading SEO new business team.
Search Engine Room is an Australian owned conference that strives to reflect the market in which it operates while embracing international trends online.
The E-Web team were armed with big smiles and SEO knowledge having our own stand in the foyer, ready and openly awaiting to meet and greet anyone willing to share the Search Engine banter going around for 2009.
Arriving at 7:30am for a pre game chat the E-Web team members that attended included the likes of Gary Ng, Jeff Yang, Marc Thwin, Lorraine Owens, Tom Wong and Michael Teasdale. By 9am the foyer was full of Search Engine discussion and business card swaps happening in all directions. Now with a day full of speeches on the timetable, it began with Google’s Justin Baird to get the crowd going and E-Web’s resident confidant Jeff Yang booked in for 2:30pm.
After a well supplied buffet breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, Jeff Yang was up to give his detailed presentation on awaiting ears in a packed room. Jeff gave a structured and methodical client study on Recall and the SEO strategy E-Web Marketing had put in place to give them their online success. On the completion his the speech the audience of search engine experts were asked if there were any questions….there was not one question which is a huge compliment to Jeff and the detail he went into with the style of his presentation.

All in all once again E-Web conquers another event walking away with our heads held high, our pockets full of business cards, multiple requests for meetings and armed with more and more knowledge on an ever changing industry.

On Tuesday 3rd November, the nation stopped to watch the infamous Emirates Melbourne Cup race. E-Web however didn’t just stop to watch the race; we stopped to have a celebration!
Watching a race and having an office sweep just isn’t enough for us eager E-Webbers! Marc and Michael, the event co-ordinators, went all out with an office sweep, fashions on the field, prizes, photos, food and drinks.
The event started with drinks on arrival, followed by watching the race. With everyone backing the favourites to win, it was a Shocking finish. Andrew however was pleasantly surprised to see his horse came first. Hot on the tail of Andrew was Aris and Roberto who managed to scoop up second and third prize respectively.

Once the race was over the fun continued with fashions on the field, or more accurately, fashions on the rec room carpet! We started with the women, all three of us! Each person took to the runway to strut their stuff and Anne came out victorious.
The men however were a different story. Each guy had their own individual look and style on the catwalk. This ranged from Aris’ comical hat and wig combo, to William throwing his pimp style hat into the audience. These tactics however were not enough to beat out the men’s fashion champion… Forzan! With his strip tease mixed with the comical use of suspenders, he provided everyone with a good show.
Once the organised festivities were over, everyone was left to mingle, eat, drink and in true E-Web style, play guitar hero and foosball.

Everyone returned to work excited and on a high. All in all, the afternoon was a pleasant break from the nonstop action of the E-Web office.

Last Wednesday night Jeff Yang and Leanne Lyons from E-Web Marketing along with their web development partner Angelo Triandos from VisionTech Digital attended this years 20th Anniversary of the BRW Fast 100 cocktail party held in Melbourne.

With over 3,000 applicants this year and stringent acceptance criteria, it was certainly the most competitive BRW Fast 100 to date and a huge achievement for any company worthy enough to even make it into the top 100 list. The venue chosen for event was ‘Comme’ located in the heart of Melbourne CBD and the evening kicked off at 7pm with the announcement of the top 10 companies to make the Fast 100 list. With all fingers and toes crossed we ambitiously kept all ears out for an announcement of “E-Web Marketing” alas our name wasn’t called out for the top 10 however we managed to achieve a top 50 ranking by placing 43rd in our first BRW Fast 100 début. The entire team at E-Web Marketing were elated to hear of our achievement as it was confirmation that all of our hard work over the years was recognised and had paid off as we were the only online marketing agency that made it onto the BRW Fast 100 list this year.
The IT sector was certainly the most competitive with 28 companies out of the 100 heavily involved in Information Technology followed closely by property and business services which made up a further 26. This number dropped to 11 for those in retail trade, 6 in construction, 5 in communications and education, 4 in finance and insurance, 2 for Heath and community along with manufacturing, mining and wholesale. The remaining applicants in accommodation, cafes and restaurants, energy, products, publishing, sports and recreation, transport & storage and wholesale trade all made up the rest of the numbers.
Each of the top BRW Fast 100 applicants received an official BRW certificate with their placing on the Fast 100 to commemorate the event and their BRW Fast 100 accolade.

The entire team at E-Web Marketing wishes to congratulate all the successful businesses who made it onto the BRW Fast 100 list for 2009… We hope to see you all again in 2010!

The E-Web sales team had a record breaking month in September, helping a large number of businesses expand their online presence through SEO. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we took to the track and let our competitive sides show.
Yesterday we visited Kartatak, an indoor go-karting venue, and tore up the track. With two types of karts available, go-karts and skid-karts, we took to both and showed that we have more skills than just helping people grow their business!
With six of us all competing against one another on the go-kart track, it was hard to say who would win. Once the race began it became clear that there was one driver in particular who displayed amazing driving precision. This driver is better known by his street racing name Yangster! With the fastest lap time and most laps driven in the ten minute sessions, Yangster proved that “If you’re not first… you’re last!”

On the skid-kart track however, it was another story. To paint a picture, skid-karts are like Dodgem Cars, but on steroids. These cars are built for one main purpose, and that is to drift! With a short loop track it was 10 minutes of continuous drifting and ramming into one another. From 3 kart pile ups, to smashing into parked karts while skidding out of control, this track was the most fun any of us had had in long time. Unfortunately, this track came at a price. Many of us suffered minor bruising and soreness the following day from the repetitive bumping and ramming into one another… and walls.
All in all, the night was a success. With three ten minute sessions on each track, each of the team showed off our different talents. Mick showed his ability to block cars off, Fung showed his playfulness both on and off the track, Marc displayed excellent ramming skills, and Tom showed us that he was determined to win, coming second by only 0.04 seconds.Unfortunately there can only be one winner on each track and these were Yangster with his precision on the go-karts and Lorraine, the Drift Queen, on the skid-karts!

With everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves, the sales team re-entered the office the following day with increased energy and excitement to reach out and help more businesses online

Last Sunday, six crazy E-Webbers entered the City of Sydney Spring Cycle and helped raise $80,000 for the MS Society and Oncology Children’s Foundation! Together under the team name Spokie Dokies they proudly cycled 84 kilometres (a whole 14 each) around Sydney Olympic Park starting at the Blaxland Riverside Park and ending up at the impressive Olympic Boulevard. Their team leader Irene, kept motivation high making sure no one was left behind or ended up in the Parramatta River.
After their hard work they relaxed in Homebush Park under the sun eating hot chips, chicken satay sticks and lamb rolls. After getting a little too comfortable they forgot about the ride back. Hesitation broke out particularly from Josephine who asked “can we catch a cab back?”
 Relaxing after the cycle
To make it a little more exciting Jeff and Matt lead the way taking an unusual yet slightly more dangerous route over three gigantic green hills. The team wasn’t too sure if Matt and Jeff realised what goes up must come down, as Matt only fixed his bike brakes 5 minutes before the cycle. The rest of the team unfortunately knowing this watched through nervous eyes hoping their mechanic skills were slightly better than their cycling skills. Luckily they were, they flew down with beaming smiles and landed safely.
 Matt on a mission!
The Spokie Dokies had a really great time and can’t wait for next year. They welcome anyone who is up for an adventure to join them in the 2010 Spring Cycle!

For those who want to know how the King Crab was cooked, it was cooked in 3 ways
- Sour and chilli soup with the eggs from the King Crab
- Fried King Crab with shallots and ginger, served together with egg noodles
- Deep fried King Crab with salt & chilli
Below are some photos from the night.

Thirty of the Search Engine Marketing industries most esteemed professionals gathered last month for the first ever Google Versus E-Web Games Olympia at the Google head office in Pyrmont. The E-Web team arrived on a Friday night, all dressed in red, carrying cupcakes for the Google team. The competition constituted of a variety of games, including table tennis, foosball, Mario Kart, pool, ping-pong and Guitar Hero.
At the end of the exciting night, the winning trophy was awarded by Jon Day, the Agency Relationship Manager, to Irene Lee the Head of Paid Search Marketing. “This trophy represents a great night out at Google and a few late nights at the office, where we stayed back practicing Guitar Hero, our singing skills and our table tennis serves. Looking forward to having you guys (Google) over at E-Web soon” said Irene Lee.
The E-Web team was very excited at their invitation by Google to visit and participate in a few friendly games in the Google recreation room. “The E-Web team enjoys working closely with staff at Google as our companies share similar visions and office culture. When given the opportunity to extend this relationship on a social front, and demonstrate our superior gaming skills, we jumped at the challenge.” said Joshua Hay, COO of E-Web Marketing.
E-Web will be in training mode in preparation for the next exciting challenge, whether Google or any other company who wants to challenge them. They are always up for a fun gaming night!
For more information about the night and game results please visit the next post on the E-Web Company Blog!

Last month Google and E-Web team members watched in wonder as their team leaders Irene Lee, from E-Web and Jon Day from Google transformed what usually was an in-house gaming Friday night, to a spontaneous and exciting competition between both parties and friends.
After Google’s invitation, the E-Webbers were plotting and planning all week on how they could dominate and take home to the rest of the team in St Leonards the champion cup of the Google versus E-Web gaming night. All dressed in red t-shirts, with their personalised ping pong bats and Mario Kart remote controls we were (or maybe should I say appeared to look) ready for anything.

Our skills on Guitar Hero were E-Web’s strongest points of the night. With Jeff on the microphone as lead singer he sung (with incredible talent) Michael Jackson’s Beat It. He tied the knot and took home first place when he brought his moves to the table (literally) featuring the Moon walk and split double jump. There were a few rumours going around that we won by default (due to Google not having a lead singer) but we didn’t let Jeff hear about that!

Ben and Irene showed extreme skill in Mario Kart winning an entire 2 games out of 20! But we can’t really compare our true skill in this area because Michael J. Fox the Google Agency Team Leader admitted he practices Mario Kart about 4 hours a day!

The real aptitude laid with Gary and Josh on the gigantic Google Foosball table where E-Web won 10-8 and again on table tennis with Fung, Roberto and Bhavesh as their side kicks.

Cathy and the Google Wave team showed great skill on the foosball table too and beat Forz and I 10 -3. Luckily we scored a few points because if it the score was 10 -0 we would have had to crawl under the Foosball table in our birthday suits (Google Rules)!

Don’t know how it happened but E-Web managed to take home the champion cup, maybe the scoring was based on the best eater’s and drinkers of the night, or maybe it was a sympathy vote on Google’s behalf. But either way we were not going to challenge the end results.

The first Google versus E-Web Gaming Night will hopefully be the beginning of an exciting regular challenge. Maybe next time E-Web will have a bit of luck and some additional training where we will be able to take home the challenger cup out rightly!

Last night was Google Australia’s Christmas party for their clients and Irene, Gary and myself went along for the event. I must admit that as we came off the harbour bridge I could see a giant ferris wheel in the same direction as the Chinese Gardens in Darling Harbour (the venue for the shindig) - this got me excited! But alas it was just a coincidence that it was setup outside the entry to the gardens. I figured if it was organised by Google they’d have plastered it with logos so my hopes were dashed as we got closer. (more…)
